Hailing from a musical family, N.Sundar is an efficient and skilful artiste who is proficient in both Tabla and the Muharsing (Jew’s harp). N.Sundar learnt the basics from his father Sri.S.Nagarajan, who is a Mridangam artist. N.Sundar had further training in tabla from Sri. Satyanathan and is a disciple of Kalaimamani Sri.A.S.Krishnan in Muharsing.

N.Sundar is a part of many fusion ensembles like Heartbeat Ensemble, Pranava Nadham and Vibrations. N.Sundar also leads his own instrumental group “Sangamam”. N.Sundar also handles other percussions like Dolki and Khol.

N.Sundar has many recordings to his credit, shared the stage with legends such as Sarvasri Dr. M.Balamuralikrishna, Vikku Vinayakram, Guru Karaikkudi Mani, Kadri Goplnath, Kunnakudi Vaidhyanathan, Aruna Sairam, Sudha Ragunathan, Bombay Jayashri, S. Nithyashri, Sowmya and many others and has also accompanied dancers such as Padma Subramaniam and Lakshmi Viswanathan.

N.Sundar has been a recipient of fellowships, awards and titles such as Junior Fellowship from Department of Culture, Government of India, Laya Vadya Siromani from Panchamukha Anjaneyar Festival Committee, Mayavaram Somasundaram Pillai Endowment Award, Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharat Kalachar, Harihara Sharma Award from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha and many others.

Sundar’s sensible awareness of South Indian rhythm system, as well as his ability to blend aesthetically, has endeared him to other fellow artists. N.Sundar’s awareness of Mridangam is an added asset to his potential, which makes him blend with the South Indian rhythm system.

Apart from being an ardent devotee of Sri Gnanananda Swamigal and a Humanist, the other passions of Sundar are Astrology and Siddha Medicine.
